Frequently Asked Questions

What is MMA?

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a hybrid combat sport incorporating techniques from boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jujitsu, karate, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and other disciplines. It's known for its diversity and requires proficiency in striking, grappling, and submissions.

Is MMA training suitable for beginners?

Yes, absolutely! Our classes are designed to accommodate kids, men and women of all skill levels, including beginners. Our experienced instructors will provide personalized guidance and support to help you progress at your own pace. No prior experience is required. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a complete beginner, you're welcome to join our classes and start your journey in MMA.

What do I bring to my first class?

All you need is comfortable workout attire, a pair of slides or flip flops, a water bottle, and hand wraps. If you have your own gloves and shin guards, feel free to bring them, otherwise, we have equipment available for use.

What if I don't like being hit?

We only utilize sparring in the specifically labeled sparring or fighting classes, otherwise we use pad based techniques. Unless you choose to participate in those classes, you will not get hit. Safety is our top priority. While MMA is a contact sport, our instructors are highly trained professionals who prioritize proper technique and injury prevention. We provide a controlled and supportive environment for training to minimize the risk of injury.

Why add Yoga to an MMA gym?

Yoga offers numerous benefits for physical and mental well-being, including improved flexibility, strength, balance, stress reduction, and enhanced focus, making it a valuable practice for overall health and wellness. These benefits are especially important for athletes who consistently put their bodies through intense training and exercise. Yoga provides a great balance with our other classes and we will always encourage trying something new! Our Yoga classes have been tailored for all levels of experience, we are all here to learn and grow together!

What are your cleaning practices?

All classes end 5 minutes before the scheduled time to allow for cleaning of the mats. We also do not allow shoes on the mats, nor do we allow bare feet off the mats. We take the cleanliness of our facility very seriously and make sure mats and change rooms are cleaned between classes and at the end of each day.

Can I try a class before I sign up for a membership?

Absolutely! We strongly believe in the programs we offer and want everyone who walks through our doors to have a great experience. Everyone new to Ignite MMA gets a free 7 day trial to try out all of our different classes before committing. All of our memberships and pricing is available on our website, through the Memberships page. We also offer single class drop ins and multiple day passes.
